WATERWORTH PENS NEW TWO-YEAR DEAL

20 July 2019

Luke Waterworth has signed a new deal with the club.

Swinton Lions are delighted to announce that Luke Waterworth has signed a new two-year contract with the club.

Waterworth will remain a Lion until at least the end of the 2021 season.

The 23-year-old joined the side ahead of the 2017 season, and his consistent and solid displays have made him a firm favourite with Swinton supporters.

Waterworth is quickly becoming a leader within the side, and has played an influential role within the Lions so far in 2019.

‘I’m made up to re-sign for another two years as we are building something special here,” Waterworth said.

“I love playing my rugby here and love all the support.

“I can’t wait to finish on a high and build on from this year!”

In one of his stand-out games, Waterworth was announced as Sky Sport’s Man of the Match in our 40-30 victory over Rochdale Hornets at Blackpool’s Summer Bash.

On the extension, Head Coach Stuart Littler said: “It’s another outstanding bit of news to agree a two-year deal with Luke Waterworth.

“Luke is continually developing and is one of the top nines in the competition. He has a great work ethos in regards to the little jobs that the rest of the team truly appreciate.

“Luke is part of our leadership team and is great for togetherness and cohesion within our playing group.

“Again he fits our mould of a young player who is hungry for success and keen to develop. It has been a pleasure to coach Luke for the past two seasons and we are excited by his future development. He is a credit to our club as well as his close knit family.”
