Second-rower Frankie Halton has signed a contract extension until 2020.
Swinton Lions are pleased to announce the contract extension of talented second-rower Frankie Halton for the 2020 season.
Utility player Frankie Halton has signed a new deal for the 2020 season with the Lions.
The 23-year-old joined the side ahead of the 2019 season, and has been impressive under Stuart Littler. He previously appeared for Leigh Miners, as well as representing England at the 2018 Commonwealth Championship in Australia.
On his extension, Halton said: “I’m really happy to have signed for the Lions next year.
“I’ve settled in really well this year with a top bunch of lads, coaching staff and great fans. It has been easy adjusting to the professional game with this club and to be honest I didn’t want to be anywhere else.
“I’d like to thank Stuart Littler, Andy Mazey and the rest of the board for signing me up for next year and can hopefully continue and build on this season and have another good year next year.”
Halton scored his first try for the club in the local derby against Rochdale Hornets at the Summer Bash, and was also nominated for May’s Swinton Lions Player of the Month.

“We are delighted to agree a new contract with Frankie for next season,” added chairman Andy Mazey.
“Frankie came to us for an opportunity from the community game last pre-season as a player we knew plenty about and has taken it with both hands.
“Stuart was adamant he wanted Frankie on-board for 2020, so we moved quickly as his performances had put him on the radar of quite a few bigger clubs.
“It’s clear we are working hard right now to not only make this club attractive to sponsors and future broadcast partners, but also to ensure we have a viable proposition that can match players ambitions as we look to keep this exciting, young group together and continue to build.”
Halton will be sponsored by PES for the 2020 season, with a special thank you to Pete Smith.
