The Swinton Board of Directors release a statement confirming the club’s home venue for 2019.

Swinton Lions have played their home games at Heywood Road, home of union side Sale FC, since 2016

Swinton Lions can now confirm that following positive meetings with Sale FC, an agreement has been reached that enables Heywood Road to continue as our home venue in 2019.

The club hopes that this decision will be welcomed by Swinton supporters, who have enjoyed the facilities at Heywood since we first played there following our promotion to the Championship in 2016.

Although our long-term ambition remains a return to the Swinton area, this decision brings continuity to our immediate strategic planning, and recognises the inroads that have been made into the Sale community over the past three years. We also recognise the fantastic accessibility of Heywood Road, and the opportunity the location brings to growing our fan base in 2019.

A statement from the Swinton Board of Directors reads:-

“Following the recent release of the update relating to the Agecroft Project, which clearly detailed our objectives and vision, the Board is now delighted to confirm our match day venue for 2019.

“Following a series of positive meetings between Swinton Board and Sale FC Executive representatives, a new partnership agreement has been reached which gives us continuity into 2019 whilst remaining focussed on our return to M27.

“We will now work more closely with Sale FC as trusted partners with the greater commercial opportunity afforded to us, details of which will be made available in due course.

“The future for Swinton has never looked as exciting, and we now need all Lions supporters to back our vision and help grow our attendances and revenues ahead of our return home to M27.”

Now that this important matter has been formally confirmed, all Swinton supporters are urged to back the club’s on-field and off-field ambitions by purchasing their Season Ticket ahead of the early-bird price deadline of 1st December 2018 and can now be purchased ONLINE.
