Swinton Lions become England Talent Pathway Accredited Partner

07 July 2021

Swinton Lions have been busy during the current lockdown, using the time to work on developing a player pathway to support both boys and girls towards the Lions first teams.

As part of this process they have successfully applied to the Rugby League to become an England Talent Pathway (ETP) Accredited Partner which focuses on players aged 12 – 16 based on the principles of open access and development of each individual.

RFL Talent Inclusion Manager Phil Jones was delighted with Swinton’s application “Swinton have really worked hard on creating a clear plan for developing and supporting players. I am delighted to be able to accredit them as an ETP Partners as they have a real desire to develop children both on and off the field, some who may progress to a Performance level, others who will continue playing socially or supporting the game”

“At Swinton Lions we are thrilled to have been officially approved as an England Talent Pathway Partner Club. Over the past 18 months, and despite the pandemic, we have been working hard on our long term strategic plan. We are putting structures in place that will enhance and underpin our relevance to the sport of rugby league for years to come, and it’s a fantastic vote of confidence that our efforts and talented personnel are being officially recognised by our governing body.

“Being part of the England Talent Pathway programme, and implementing its aims and objectives, will attract talented youngsters to the club, and help put the building blocks in place to enable us create a genuine player pathway at Swinton Lions”. Steve Wild, Operations Director.
