SWINTON LIONS 0

YORK KNIGHTS 40

IAN RIGG Heywood Road, Sunday

The Knights put in their performance of the season with an impressive victory over the Lions on their own patch scoring eight tries in the process. They got off to a dream start when the Lions made an error straight from the kick off when a Lions player who took the kick off stepped over the dead ball line putting the Knights on the attack straight away and finished off their first set with AJ Towse diving over in the left corner, but James Glover was unable to convert. The second try came on six minutes when they won a scrum near the line and Ata Hingano found a nice gap to roll over and score by the posts and Glover converted. Towse almost added his second a few minutes later but a great tackle by Jake Spedding knocked him into touch but they did add a third on fifteen minutes when Myles Harrison found the overlap to score in the corner and Glover converted. Lions had a rare chance when George Delaney went close and then the final pass went to ground. Joe Brown then scored the fourth try on sixty-eight minutes when he linked with Liam Harris on the right, but Glover was unable to convert. Joe Lowe then had another chance for the Lions but his kick over the goal line ran dead but Brown added his second two minutes from the break when he took a nice pass from Hingano to put the ball down by the posts and Glover converted again.

The Knights started the second half just as they had finished the first and scored their next try five minutes in when Josh Daley dived over from acting half back by the posts and again the conversion was good from Glover. Towse scored his second try on fifty-seven minutes with good passing by Hingano and Levi Edwards who kept the ball alive in the attack, but Glover was unable to convert this one. Harris then made a good break on sixty-five minutes but was caught by Louis Brogan and just after this and incident went on report for possible foul play by a Knights player. Delaney and Kenny Baker then both went close for the Lions, but good defence held them out. The final try came with six minutes left after another scrum move near the line and Harrison crashed in at the corner, but this time Harris took over the kicking but was unable to convert from the touchline. In the final minute the Lions had one more chance, but again good defence denied them.
