Swinton Lions will travel to the A.J. Bell Stadium to face local rivals Salford Red Devils in a pre-season friendly on Saturday 12th January.
Swinton’s pre-season schedule has started to take shape with the announcement that the Lions will face Salford Red Devils at the AJ Bell Stadium on 12th January 2019, kick-off 1pm.
The clash will ignite the local rivalry between the two clubs which dates back to 1880 when Joe Mills was among the try scorers for Swinton who beat Salford in their first ever meeting on December 4th.
The Red Devils provide the first opposition for Stuart Littler’s new-look squad before the Betfred Championship season opener away to Sheffield Eagles on February 3rd.
As many as ten new signings, including Billy Brickhill, Frankie Halton, Jose Kenga and Mike Ratu could be in line to make their Lions debuts.
The two sides last met in January 2018, where the Red Devils ran out 50-12 victors with Chris Hankinson and debutant Hayden Hansen on the scoresheet for Swinton.
Two other fixtures are currently lined up as the Lions prepare for the new season and will be announced in due course.
Ticketing details for this game will be announced soon so be sure to check out the club’s website and social media channels for the latest updates.
