RICHARD HEYES JOINS SWINTON LIONS BOARD

Swinton Lions RLFC is delighted to announce that Richard Heyes has accepted a unanimous invitation to join the club’s Board of Directors.

Richard will take up his duties with immediate effect as Head of Communications & Media. He joins Chairman Andy Mazey, Operations Director Steve Wild, Commercial Director Peter Smith, Director Alan Marshall, Supporters’ Trust representative Steve Moyse, and club President David Jones.

Richard, 45, is the managing director of leading Manchester SEO agency, Tecmark. He is already a prominent supporter of Rugby League at all levels and brings a wealth of experience to the role.

Richard will also become a club sponsor for the 2018 season, for which details will be released in a further announcement in due course.

Chairman Andy Mazey said, “Richard is someone I identified that could add value to our professional management structure that we are building at Swinton Lions. He is well respected in business and in the game by those who know him and he also someone I’m proud to call a friend. He is a great bloke with a great family and is a real fit to our ambitious sustainable way of thinking. I know he is excited by the challenge and his values are very much inline with those of myself and the Board.

“When I suggested inviting him onto the Board, the other Directors were unanimous in their support. We have always stated that we want to build this club for the future and by adding quality, proven business people – in particular those that have professional skill sets in critical areas which we need to develop and move forward – it will enable that goal to happen.

“Rick will bring his own ideas and business acumen and we are delighted to welcome him into the Lions family.”

Richard said, “I am really proud and excited to be joining Swinton Lions, and I’m really looking forward to the journey ahead. The fantastic response and passion demonstrated from the fans earlier in the season to help save the Lions convinced me that this was a club I would like to get involved with – initially as a sponsor and now with the honour of joining the Board. I am completely behind the approach Andy and the Board are taking in building a sustainable club first and foremost, but with big ambitions for the future.”
