PREVIEW: BATLEY BULLDOGS v SWINTON LIONS

15 February 2020

Check out the match preview as Swinton Lions travel to Batley Bulldogs in the third round of the 2020 Betfred Championship.

Swinton Lions travel to the Fox’s Biscuits Stadium in their second league game of the season against Batley Bulldogs after last weekend’s postponement.

Swinton were expected to play their first home game of the season against Dewsbury Rams. However, Storm Ciara had its own ideas and after a night of heavy rain on Saturday, the decision was made by the match officials to call the game off.

Tickets for the game are available to buy at the White Swan Pub in Swinton and the club retains 20% of the ticket sales, so don’t miss out!

FORM GUIDE

The postponed game against Dewsbury has given Stuart Littler and the team two weeks to train together and prepare for the match this Sunday. Having won their first game of the season comfortably 14-0 away to Whitehaven, the Lions will be quietly confident of registering another win against Batley this weekend.

What will bring them even more belief is that Batley have lost their opening two games of the season. Batley started their campaign with a 38-18 home defeat to Featherstone Rovers and then lost again 32-12 away to Widnes Vikings last Sunday. That will surely give Littler’s men confidence that they too can get at Batley and put them under considerable pressure.

MATCH STATS

When the sides met last season, Batley won the first encounter in April at home 32-18 but Swinton responded with a 20-18 win at Heywood Road.

MATCH STATS

Swinton have failed to beat Batley away from home in any of the last 10 meetings between them and that will be something Littler will be desperate to put an end to on Sunday.
