The club is pleased to announce that Deane Meadows has signed a new contract with the club.

Swinton Lions RLFC is delighted to announce the re-signing of Deane Meadows for the 2020 Betfred Championship season.

The exciting talent, who has represented the North West England Lionhearts including a four-game unbeaten tour to Jamaica, signed with the club in August 2019 and will again join for the 2020 season.

The 25-year-old can cover both centre and half, and was also part of Lancashire’s BARLA side who travelled to Serbia in May and beat 2019 Challenge Cup debutants Red Star Belgrade.

On the new contract, Meadows said: “I am extremely happy and thankful to sign again and stay on with the club.

“I’m looking forward to getting back to it and starting pre-season. I enjoyed my time here last season and I am hoping to gain experience and develop as a player.”

The Shevington Sharks amateur is yet to make his debut for the club, but will have his chance says head coach Stuart Littler.

“It is great news with the re-signing of Deane Meadows,” Littler said.

“Deane signed late in the year and was unfortunate not to get a start in the seventeen. He was close on numerous occasions and I know it is a personal goal of his to get into our team for next year.

“We are here to support development within our players and to educate them so they are best placed when that opportunity arises. Everybody will get an opportunity with us in the pre-season as we will assess exactly where we are at.

“Deane pushes his body training on his own as well as in our team environment. The pre season schedule will allow us to get that education into Deane so he is well aware of all systems and structures.

“Welcome back, Deane.”
