MEADOWS EXTENDS CONTRACT WITH SWINTON

18 August 2020

Swinton Lions are delighted to announce that Deane Meadows has signed a new one-year deal with the club for the 2021 season.

The recruitment drive continues ahead of the new Championship season as forward Deane Meadows signs for 2021.

The 26-year-old forward joined the club last August, and although he performed with great credit during this year’s pre-season friendlies against Salford and Warrington, he’s still looking to make his official senior debut in a Swinton shirt. However, Deane has remained patient and shown a great attitude, attributes that Stuart Littler readily acknowledges.

The Swinton Head Coach said, “It’s another piece of great news for our club with the re-signing of Deane Meadows for the 2021 season.

“He came to us at the back end of 2019 after competing for an England amateur representative side over in Jamaica. His commitment to the Lions cannot be questioned and he has demonstrated a great deal of drive to improve.

“Deane has continued to get better throughout his time with us and his personal training has been really impressive throughout the lockdown period. Now that we have identified the best position for Deane, I’m convinced that we will see further development at an increased pace.”

“I CAN’T WAIT TO GET BACK TO TRAINING WITH THE LADS”

Deane meanwhile was happy to sign on for another year. He added, “I’d like to thank Stuart and the coaching staff for giving me the opportunity again for 2021, when hopefully I’ll get the chance to break through into the first team.

“I was enjoying the start of this season ahead of lockdown, and I have aimed to use the time off to improve myself both in terms of fitness and skill set.

“I’d put a few games for Salford reserves under my belt and training was going well, and in fact I felt the fittest I have probably ever been! I’m now looking forward to next year, playing in a new position, and hopefully I’ll get the opportunity to cement a spot in the starting line-up.

“I can’t wait to get back to training with the lads and to get stuck in! Finally I’d like to say that the club has been really supportive through this difficult time towards the full squad.”
