Swinton Lions can confirm that Matt Sarsfield has left the club by mutual consent.

Sarsfield joined the club as our marquee player at the start of the 2016 season, but missed most of the Championship season after sustaining a long-term injury during the Lions’ 8-6 victory against on a muddy pitch at the Tetley’s Stadium.

The back-rower had originally appeared for Swinton during the 2013 season as the Lions maintained their Championship status that year, Matt chipping in with 8 tries in 16 appearances.

Having also featured for Dewsbury, Halifax and Salford Red Devils, Sarsfield returned to the Lions but suffered several spells on the sidelines limiting him to 10 appearances across 2017 & 2018 seasons, scoring three tries.

The club wishes Matt the best of luck in his next career move.
