LIONS VERSUS BRONCOS – TEAM NEWS

15 July 2023

SWINTON LIONS versus LONDON BRONCOS

Heywood Road, Sunday 16 July, 3pm kick-off

Welsh duo return is welcome boost to the Lions

The Lions’ 20-man squad for Sunday’s Championship showdown with the Broncos features a welcome return for our captain Rhodri Lloyd, who missed out on the trip to Featherstone last week as well as the Sheffield win a fortnight ago. Also back in the frame is half-back Ollie Olds, who has been absent through injury since our narrow loss to Bradford back in mid-May.

As far as our half-back situation is concerned, Ollie’s return is particularly welcome, especially considering the fact that Nick Gregson will be serving a one-match suspension, and Jamie Ellis has been recalled by York. Ellis’s recall was evidently prompted by Oldham’s offer of a permanent transfer, something that we at Swinton did not wish to consider.

Unfortunately we will be without Mike Butt against London, who will therefore remain frustratingly stranded on 99 club tries for at least one more game. It might also be necessary to give second-rower Gavin Rodden a week away from the action.

Meanwhile St Helen’s Matty Foster is named in the squad as a DR player.

In other encouraging news, long-term absentees Richard Lepori and Myles Harrop are making great progress and are expected to see action in the not too distant future.

Discounted tickets are available online at Match Tickets & Fan Info — Swinton Lions RLFC, otherwise cash or card payments can be made at the gate on match day.

Full squad:-

Dan Abram, Andy Badrock, Kenny Baker, Gavin Bennion, Louis Brogan, Jordan Case, Mitch Cox, Josh Eaves, Matty Foster, Jordan Gibson, Lewis Hall, Jayden Hatton, Rhodri Lloyd, Joe Lowe, Ollie Olds, Scott Parnaby, George Roby, Gavin Rodden, Joey Romeo, Jake Spedding.
