LIONS SIGN SCOTT MOORE IN SWAP DEAL

Swinton Lions have signed Scott Moore from Rochdale Hornets which will see Kyle Shelford go the other way.

Swinton Lions are delighted to announce the signing of former Super League hooker Scott Moore for the remainder of the season.

Moore will join Stuart Littler’s squad effective immediately, with Kyle Shelford joining Rochdale in the swap deal.

The 31-year-old featured in the 2009 Super League Dream Team, and was also the youngster player to make their Super League debut at the age of just 16 for St Helens.

The former England international has also spent time down under in the NRL with North Queensland Cowboys.

On the signing, Littler said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be able to announce the signing of Scott Moore from Rochdale.

“Scott will bring us vast experience and a high level of understanding of the game. He has been involved at numerous high level clubs and was a leading player in our previous Championship match up at the Summer Bash.

“After several talks with Scott and him being a personal friend, I know he is coming here for the right reasons and I know exactly what he will bring. This signing is an exciting one at a really exciting and pivotal stage of the season.

“Welcome aboard, Scott.”

Moore will join Littler’s squad this week for training, and could feature this weekend as Swinton face York City Knights this Sunday at Heywood Road.

“I’m really happy to get the chance to link up with my good mates in Stuart [Littler] and Andy [Mazey] and the boys at Swinton and have a refresh and change of scenery,” Moore said.

“I’d like to thank Rochdale for everything and wish them and the boys all the best for the rest of the year.”

On the transfer, Chairman Andy Mazey added: “We’re absolutely delighted to add a player of Scott’s undoubted quality and experience to our talented young squad at such a vital stage of the year.

“Scott is a former England international and a player we know very, very well who possesses vast amounts of Super League and NRL experience.

“I know Stuart will get the best out of Scott and his family will enjoy being part of the Lions family.

“At the same time I would like to thank Kyle for his commitment and professionalism during his time with the Lions and wish him well with for the future.”
