LIONS PRE-SEASON CLASH AT ROCHDALE CALLED OFF

16 January 2020

The Lions’ pre-season clash against Rochdale Hornets on Sunday 19th January has been called off.

Swinton Lions pre-season clash against Rochdale Hornets has been called off after the hosts expressed concerns about the pitch at the Crown Oil Arena.

Swinton opened up their 2020 pre-season campaign away at local rivals Salford Red Devils on 5th January.

The Lions next pre-season match will be against Super League outfit Warrington Wolves at Heywood Road on Saturday, 25 January. Kick- off is 2pm.

Swinton Lions Director Steve Wild said: “We are naturally disappointed at the postponement of the friendly fixture at Rochdale, but hopefully the early announcement is at least helpful to our supporters. We will now concentrate our efforts on preparing for the prestigious Warrington friendly.”

Rochdale Hornets Steve Kerr CEO told the club’s website: “We are disappointed and would like to apologise to fans for calling off our third pre-season game. However, protecting the pitch will serve us well come the start of the season and Matt can now focus on our first competitive game.”
