LIONS PART COMPANY WITH LIAM FORSYTH

04 July 2022

It is with much regret that Swinton Lions RLFC confirms that by mutual consent Liam Forsyth has been released from his playing contract.

Liam has battled against injury since shortly after he joined the club early in 2020, and sadly over the past two seasons he’s only been able to make three appearances (scoring two tries). Prior to that he’d made an additional 24 appearances, scoring 12 tries, whilst on dual registration from Wigan Warriors.

During his time with the Lions Liam has been a model professional, and was extremely popular with everyone at the club. There is no doubt that a fit Liam Forsyth would have made a significant difference to Swinton Lions over the past two seasons, which only serves to make this announcement all the more sad and regrettable.

The player and the club have parted on the best possible terms, and Liam is aware that a future fully fit “Brucey” will always be welcome back at the Lions.

Swinton Head Coach Allan Coleman added, “I am absolutely gutted for Brucey. He is a great lad and an exceptional talent, and both Swinton and the sport will miss the talent that he is. I would like to thank him for his service to our great club, and wish him all the best in what he’ll be doing next. Liam isn’t just a rugby player to us, he is part of our family, and I want to thank him for being the gentleman that he is both on and ff the field. I’ve no doubt that his family are super proud of the man he has become.”

Our very best wishes for the future are extended to Liam and his family.
