Lions Foundation brings inclusive Rugby League to South Manchester!

27 April 2021

Yesterday the Swinton Lions Foundation visited Bowdon Hockey Club in Altrincham to deliver a fun Rugby League session to a group of enthusiastic special educational needs students.

As part of the Lions Foundation Targeted Development Programme, in partnership with the World Cup Legacy Plan for the Borough of Trafford, it was rewarding to see the enthusiasm of the students of Brentwood School and Community College.

The Lions’ Foundation would like to thank Access Sport and Bowdon Hockey Club for the use of their fantastic facility to enhance the delivery of the session, which was also supported by Connor Muldoon from the Manchester United Foundation.

Patrick from Brentwood School and Community College said, “Today was a great and fun session where all the activities were inclusive to all levels of ability.

“The Swinton coaches brought a positive attitude and were enthusiastic, and also included humour which our guys love!”

Lions’ Director of Development, Damian Ridpath added, “The session was fantastic and all the young people fully engaged in what was a new activity for all the participants.

“At the Lions’ Foundation we are expanding the provision and are working in traditional and non-traditional environments, to promote all versions of rugby league.”
