LIONS’ CHALLENGE CUP TIE MOVED TO FEATHERSTONE GROUND

16 March 2018

Swinton Lions Challenge Cup fourth-round tie against York City Knights on Saturday 18th March has been moved from Bootham Crescent to the LD Nutrition Stadium.

The Lions fourth-round Challenge Cup tie against York City Knights this weekend has been moved from the club’s home ground Bootham Cresent to Featherstone Rovers’ LD Nutrition Stadium.

It’s with much regret that we have received information from York City Knights that their ground at Bootham Crescent is unplayable owing to a waterlogged pitch. This has been underlined by the postponement of York City FC’s home game against Southport scheduled for Saturday afternoon.

Both ourselves and the Knights have concluded that our cup tie needs to take place this weekend to avoid fixture congestion over the next few weeks, when we both have important league engagements to fulfil.

At short notice Featherstone Rovers have offered their ground to York, and we have therefore agreed to play the cup-tie at Featherstone’s LD Nutrition Stadium on Sunday 18th March. Kick-off 3pm.

We are aware that many Swinton supporters will have been looking forward to visiting York this weekend, and no doubt many of you will have booked transport and hotels. We have enormous sympathy with those who are disappointed, but hope you will still support the Lions over at Featherstone on Sunday.
