HATTON AGREES SECOND YEAR OPTION WITH LIONS

09 July 2019

Lewis Hatton will remain at the club next season after agreeing to his second year option.

Lewis Hatton has agreed to his second-year option with the club, which will see him remain at the side for the 2020 season.

The club are delighted that the forward has exercised his second year option in his current contract and will remain a Lion for 2020.

Hatton joined the Lions ahead of the 2019 season from rivals Rochdale Hornets, where he won the 2018 Player of the Year award.

The prop-forward has had an impressive season so far under Stuart Littler, which most recently included the match-winning try over Batley Bulldogs at Heywood Road to climb the league table.

“I’m looking forward to another year with the lads,” said Hatton.

“i’m excited to see what next season brings. I love the fans here and can’t wait to play in front of them again in 2020.”

On the latest announcement, Chairman Andy Mazey commented: “It’s more great news for our supporters and another vital piece of business being able to exercise the second year in Lewis Hatton’s contract for 2020.

“I’m as delighted as Stuart and the staff that Lewis has opted to stay on this journey with this special group.

“Lewis is a tough and uncompromising front-row forward, who only knows one way and he is a coach’s dream who just wants to turn up, train hard and play tough.”

Hatton and the Lions return to Heywood Road on Sunday 21st July to face Barrow Raiders in the Betfred Championship.
