Swinton Lions are delighted to announce that young centre Sam Grant has agreed a new one-year deal with the club for the 2021 season.
Ex-Wigan Warriors and academy league champion Sam Grant is the latest Lion to commit to the 2021 season.
Sam joined the Lions last winter and made a try-scoring senior debut in the Challenge Cup against Leigh Miners Rangers early this season. The 21-year-old retained his place at centre for the subsequent close games against Featherstone Rovers and Widnes, before lockdown brought proceedings to a halt.
Sam explained, “I am very pleased to have signed for another year with Swinton and I’m looking forward to getting back in training with the lads and coaching staff to get ready for next year.
“I’m gutted about how my first season at the club ended due to the current situation. I thought we had just started to show what we can do as a team and that we would cause any team problems.
“I now can’t wait to get back out there next year with the lads and I’m hoping to have a big season with the Lions.”

Head Coach Stuart Littler added, “Sam is another young player with a lot of potential for future development. He has a very high skill set with a good understanding of how rugby should be played.
He is very selfless and always thinks of the team before himself. That is a great quality to have and over the next few years I’m looking forward to seeing Sam continue to forge a good career for himself within our great game.
“A very positive member of our group, he has come to our club with very high personal standards that he developed throughout his time within the Wigan youth set up.
“Sam is another young player who is aiming to play at the highest level he can whilst also playing with a smile upon his face. Our staff are delighted that he’s committed again and I’m sure our fans will feel the same.”
