Swinton Lions are delighted to announce that St Helens scrum-half Rob Fairclough will re-join the club until the end of the Championship season.

Fairclough first joined the Lions on a month’s loan in February, featuring against Featherstone Rovers and York City Knights in the Challenge Cup before returning to his parent club where he is yet to make a first team appearance this season.

A Blackbrook junior product, he went on the Great Britain Under 18s Tour of Australia in 2016, and has a reputation for being solid in defence and accomplished in his support play.

On the signing, head coach Stuart Littler said: “We are delighted to be able to finalise the loan signing of Rob Fairclough for the remainder of the season ahead.

“Rob is a player who hugely impressed in his earlier stint with us before he picked up an unfortunate injury. We have kept liaison with both St Helens and Rob and now that Rob is fit to play we were keen to get a deal done.

“Rob goes straight into contention and will provide great competition for places in the weeks ahead.

“We have a small squad and are always on the look out to add quality players. Rob is not just that but he is a quality person as well so adds another dimension to our squad.

“Can I thank St Helens and especially Paul Wellens for all his support with this one.”

Catch Rob Fairclough in action as Swinton Lions host Featherstone Rovers this Sunday 15th July at Heywood Road, 1:30pm kick off. Tickets are available on the gate priced at £18 for adults, £13 for concessions and juniors have FREE admission.

The club welcomes you to join us for an ‘all you can eat’ breakfast at Heywood Road from 11:30am ahead of the game and encourages you to stay around after the conclusion of the Championship clash for the World Cup final, set for a 4pm kick-off.
