Christmas message from the Lions’ Board of Directors

24 December 2020

The Swinton Lions Board of Directors would like to say a sincere thank you to all of our club partners and fantastic fans for your incredible support throughout 2020.

It can certainly be said that this year has been like no other. We have faced exceptional challenges, both personally and as a club, whilst every aspect of our lives has been impacted by the pandemic.

During these difficult times your continued commitment to the Lions has been incredible and we are extremely grateful for your loyalty and belief in our famous club.

We cannot speak highly enough of our club sponsors, our Supporters’ Trust, our Pridebuilder members, or those of you that donated Season Tickets or player sponsorships, or contributed support in a multitude of different ways.

It’s very humbling to know what love and dedication there is out there for our club.

The ethos of the club is based on family, and by supporting each other throughout the year the values we promote have been clear to see.

The Board of Directors also acknowledges the dedication and professionalism of the Swinton coaching and backroom staff, together with our players, for their ongoing commitment.

Despite the pandemic, the club has made tremendous progress off the field over the past year. We believe we have recruited strongly ahead of 2021, whilst ensuring that we have enhanced and protected our off-field business.

Our community development plans have gone from strength to strength, including of course the imminent launch of our Lionesses. Indeed we have produced a detailed business and development plan which has been warmly received by our governing body.

We therefore go into 2021 with excitement and optimism. We eagerly await the new season during which we aim to progress further on the field, whilst at the same time building closer links with our club partners and supporters.

However, we are not complacent and we remain mindful of the challenges we will face.

The Board would also like to take this opportunity to send deepest sympathy to all members of the wider Lions’ family who have lost loved ones this year. Our thoughts are with you during this difficult period.

Finally we wish all of our club partners and supporters a merry and safe Christmas, and here’s hoping for a much improved and prosperous 2021. We look forward to seeing you all at Heywood Road as soon as possible!
