LIONS FOUNDATION LAUNCHES JUNIOR DELIVERY PROGRAMME

17 August 2020

The Lions Foundation delivers its first community Rugby League session in Trafford.

The newly revamped Lions Foundation today delivered its first community Rugby League session.

As part of a co-ordinated strategy to build key partnerships across Greater Manchester, the Lions Foundation recently linked up with Trafford Council and Manchester United Foundation. The initial aim is to deliver a series of junior rugby league sessions, and the first of these took place today at ‘The Fuse’ Youth Centre at Partington, Trafford.

A group of 7 to 10 year olds enjoyed the event which was delivered by Gary Woodward of Swinton’s community club partner, Folly Lane ARLFC. Further sessions will be delivered by the Lions’ Foundation over the coming weeks across the Partington and Old Trafford areas.

Damian Ridpath, the Lions’ Director of Development said, “This is a tremendous initiative and the first step in our community provision alongside Trafford Council and Manchester United Foundation.

“We will also be working alongside our community club partner Folly Lane extensively over the coming months to develop the Swinton Lions Brand, to increase participation in our great sport, and to provide an exit route for the youngsters into local community rugby clubs. Our broader aim is to be proactive across a number of Great Manchester boroughs.”

We will be providing a range of sessions for all ages and sexes moving forward. A full description of engagement opportunities and contact numbers for more information will be released in due course.
