Following consultation with London Broncos and the RFL, we can now confirm that our away fixture in the capital, originally scheduled for Sunday 30 August, will now take place on Saturday 5 September.

The venue for what will be our last Championship game of the season will be Richmond Rugby Union Club, Richmond Athletic Ground, Twickenham Road, Richmond TW9 2SF. Kick-off 2pm.

The change of date has of course been necessitated by the Broncos’ qualification for the 1895 Cup Final, which will take place on Bank Holiday Monday 31 August. With London almost guaranteed to receive a bye in the first round of the Championship Play-Offs, this presented the opportunity to rearrange the fixture for the weekend in question.

Other dates were considered, but that would have necessitated a midweek fixture with all the associated logistical problems.

Richmond, founded in 1861, are one of the very select number of clubs who actually pre-date the Lions, but were not opponents that we crossed swords with back in our own Rugby Union days.

The Broncos are of course extremely recent by comparison, and our trip south promises to be an interesting adventure!
