HAPPY 160TH BIRTHDAY, SWINTON LIONS!

On this day in 1866, the foundations of the Swinton Lions club that we know today were first laid.

At a meeting held at the old St Peter’s School, the men of Swinton Cricket Club decided to form a rugby football section to keep themselves occupied during the winter months.

This event was reported in the Parish Magazine, and marks the beginning of the incredible 160 years of history which have followed.

So a happy 160th birthday to us, and thank you everyone for your amazing loyal support, which has helped us to achieve this wonderful milestone!
