Alan Dixon at Beactive, Urmston

A last-minute try denied the Lions their second win of the season in an end-to-end game against the Wolves.

The Wolves recovered the kick off and immediately went on the attack. Good defence by the Lions kept them out. A Lions turn over soon put the Wolves back on the attack but a pass by Mick Brown to Isaac Williams was judged to have gone forward with a clear run to the line. Good runs by Charlie Gordon, Andy Unwin, Jordan Parker and Dan Robinson got the Lions to the Wolves try line. Quick hand across the line allowed Jordan Parker to send Robin Cronshaw in at the corner. Dan Robinson was unable to add the extras. The Wolves levelled it up when The Lions allowed the restart to bounce into the in-goal. Lenny Izzard reacted the quickest to score. Paul Harding missed the conversion attempt. The Wolves went back on the attack, but their last tackle kick was too long. This allowed the Lions launch another attack with runs by Jordan Parker and Robin Cronshaw setting up good field position. The ball was moved across to Dan Robinson whose pass out wide allowed Charlie Gordon to score in the corner. Dan Robinson converted. The Lions conceded a penalty for double tagging. Paul Prince sent the Wolves back on the attack. His pass to Lenny Izzard sent him in to score.  Paul Harding converted to level things up.  They scored again from the restart. Paul Harding took the ball up before passing it onto Isaac Williams who sent Lenny Izzard over to score in the corner. Mick Brown was unable to convert. The Wolves were now on a roll and scored again from the restart. Paul Prince took the ball up. His quick play the ball allowed Isaac Williams to send Lenny Izzard over to score. Paul Harding converted. They scored again from the restart. Isaac Williams took the ball up before passing it onto Paul Harding. He sent Lenny Izzard on a run down the middle. Quick hands got the ball out to Paul Prince who scored in the corner. Paul Harding converted.

The Lions regained possession from a Wolves knock on. Jordan Parker and Dan Robinson drove the ball up before moving it on to Andy Unwin who was tackled short of the line. The ball was moved across to Jordan Parker who sent Dan Robinson through a gap to score. He converted his own try. The Lions were then penalised for not being square whilst playing the ball. Isaac Williams launched the Wolves next attack. A quick pass by Paul Prince sent Lenny Izzard over in the corner. Paul Harding missed the conversion. The Lions were penalised again for not being square. Isaac Williams sent the Wolves back on the attack. Quick hands by Paul Prince and Paul Harding sent Mick Brown over in the corner. Paul Harding converted. The Lions had the last say in the first half. It was now the Wolves turn to be penalised for not being square. Andy Unwin and Dan Robinson took the ball up before moving it out to Charlie Gordon who scored in the corner. Dan Robinson converted.

The second half kick-off was allowed to go into touch by the Wolves. The Lions launched their attack with Andy Unwin and Charlie Gordon. Dan Robinson took the ball up before moving it out to Andy Unwin to score. Dan Robinson converted. The Lions got back to within two points when Warrington were penalised at the restart.  Dan Robinson and Andy Unwin launched the attack with Dan 0Robinson dummying his way to the line to score his 100th point for the club. He converted his own try.  The Lions were then pulled up for a forward pass. Warrington launched their attack with Paul Prince, Mick Brown and Lenny Izzard. The ball was moved back across the field to Mick Brown but his pass to Paul Harding was adjudged forward with an open line. The Lions lost the ball on their next possession but the Wolves kick on the last was too long. The Lions were then penalised for obstruction. Warrington launched their next attack with Paul Prince. He passed the ball on to Mick Brown who got the ball out to Lenny Izzard to score. The try was disallowed for a knock on. The Lions launched their next attack with Robin Cronshaw and Charlie Gordon.  Dan Robinson sent Robin Cronshaw through a gap, but he was tackled short of the line. Dan Robinson then went over but he was deemed to have knocked on whilst scoring. The Wire launched their next attack with Paul Harding. The Lions conceded a penalty which allowed the Wolves to go further downfield.  The ball was quickly moved across to Lenny Izzard . He passed it onto Mick Brown who sent Ben Callander in at the corner. Paul Harding converted.

The Lions reduced the arrears again after a Wolves knock on. Dan Robinson and Andy Unwin got the Lions downfield. Dan Robinson put Jordan Parker through a gap to score. Dan Robinson converted. The Lions were pulled back for a forward pass at the restart. Lenny Izzard took the ball up and sent Paul Prince in to score under the posts. Mick Brown converted. The Wolves continued to attack the Lions line from the kick off. The ball was moved out wide to Paul Prince. His inside pass was intercepted by Jordan Parker who went the full length to score. Dan Robinson converted. The Lions took the lead when the Wolves were penalised at the restart. Andy Unwin took the ball up before passing it to Dan Robinson who sent Jordan Parker through a gap to score. Dan Robinson converted. The Lions continued to attack from the restart. Runs by Dan Robinson, Andy Unwin and Charlie Gordon got them into good field position. The ball was moved back into the middle where Dan Robinson kicked the Lions first ever drop goal. The Lions attacked the Wolves line with runs from Dan Robinson, Jordan Parker and Andy Unwin. Charlie Gordon weaved his way through the Wolves defence but was tackled short of the line. The Lions continued to attack the Wolves line with attacking runs by Andy Unwin, Charlie Gordon and Dan Robinson.  A Jordan Parker kick forced the Wolves to drop out. Unfortunately, the Lions let the drop out go dead in their own in-goal and was forced into a drop out themselves. The Wolves kicked downfield and the Lions were forced to knock the ball into touch. From the restart, Paul Prince went over to score. Mick Brown converted to seal the Wolves win.
