The Swinton Lions Foundation is excited to announce opportunities for individuals to join our team as Volunteer Pathway Coaches and Casual School Coaches. These roles are integral to our mission of promoting Rugby League and fostering youth development within our Lions Talent Pathway (LTP) programs and primary school coaching projects across Greater Manchester.

 

About the Swinton Lions Foundation

  • Established in 2016, the Swinton Lions Foundation is dedicated to:
  • Providing and supporting Rugby League playing and associated opportunities in Greater Manchester and beyond.
  • Developing educational initiatives using Rugby League as a conduit for engagement.
  • Offering opportunities for individuals of all ages to engage in physical activities that enhance health and well-being
  • Advancing the heritage of Swinton Lions and our historical hometown of Swinton and Pendlebury.
  • Our Foundation has been instrumental in launching successful projects such as the Golden Lions and the Stop Hate Crime initiatives. We are committed to building upon this excellent reputation and expanding our community outreach.

 

Role Descriptions

Volunteer Pathway Coaches: Volunteers will work within our Lions Talent Pathway (LTP) programs, focusing on developing young talent and promoting the sport among primary school students. Coaches will assist in training sessions, mentor young athletes, and support the overall development of participants.

Casual School Coaches: These positions involve delivering Rugby League sessions within primary schools, introducing students to the sport, and encouraging active participation. Coaches will work on a casual basis, providing flexibility and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on young lives.

Requirements

To be eligible for these roles, applicants must:

  • Have a current RFL DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check.
  • Hold a minimum of RFL Level 1 coaching qualification (Level 2 preferred for certain roles).
  • Possess a passion for Rugby League and youth development.
  • Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be able to inspire and motivate young participants.
