Our second announcement of the evening sees another familiar face heading back to Heywood Road, as we’re delighted to welcome Jack Houghton to Swinton Lions for the 2027 season!

Jack makes his return to the club following his time with Widnes Vikings, reuniting with Head Coach Anthony Murray as the Lions continue strengthening their squad ahead of the new campaign.

It’s a welcome return for a player who already knows what it means to represent Swinton, and we’re looking forward to seeing him back in blue!

𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗔𝗻𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗻𝘆 𝗠𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗮𝘆 𝘀𝗮𝗶𝗱:

“I’m really pleased to have managed to get Jack over the line. He’s a player who has been with us before, so I know exactly what he can bring, and he’s also had some standout performances during his time at Widnes.

“I felt it was vital that we brought some experience into the middle area of the team, and having coached Jack previously, I know the qualities he’ll add to the group. He’s a strong player who understands the game, works hard for his teammates and will bring some valuable experience to the squad.

“I’m really looking forward to working with Jack again and seeing what he can bring to the team.”

𝗝𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝗮𝗶𝗱:

“I’m absolutely made up to be signing back with the Lions. I enjoyed my time here last time around, and the fact I still keep in touch with some of the fans. I’m really excited to be coming back, getting started and being part of this group.

“Muzza is someone I’ve worked with for most of my career, and he was a big factor in my decision to sign. Having that relationship and knowing how he works definitely made the decision easier.

“At this stage of my career, I feel I’ve got a lot of experience to offer, and I’m really looking forward to taking on a leadership role, helping the younger lads develop and setting the right standards both on and off the pitch. I can’t wait to get going again.”
