We battled our way into the final playoff, showing real Swinton spirit throughout!
Despite a tough final against Widnes (18 – 34), this team made history and did the club proud from start to finish. 👏
A massive congratulations to everyone involved — players, coaches, and supporters — this is just the start of something special for our wheelchair side!

Wheelchair Tournament Match Report

Swinton Lions Wheelchair team created more history by taking part in their first ever tournament and winning their first ever game. In a four-team tournament the Lions finished in second place.

The Lions first game was against Leigh Leopards. They started the brighter and opened the scoring when Kieron Lacey scored in the 8th minute. Dan Robinson added the extras. Kieron Lacey scored again three minutes later, and Dan Robinson converted. Daniel scored the next try in the 20th minute to increase the Lions lead to 16-0. Kieron Lacey completed his hat-trick in the 34th minute. Daniel added the extras. Tickle scored for Leigh in the last minute. He converted his own try.

Widnes Vikings were the Lions next opponents. The Lions got off to a quick start when Daniel scored in the second minute. He converted his own try to give the Lions a 6-0 lead. Widnes hit back in scoring three tries. Two were converted to give the Vikings a 16-6 lead. The Lions reduced the lead to 16-12 when Daniel scored and Dan Robinson converted.

Castleford Tigers were next up for the Lions. The Lions scored first in the 7th minute when Jace Parker scored in the corner. Kieron Lacey converted. They extended their lead six minutes later when Andrew Unwin went over half the length of the field to score. Kieron Lacey the scored two quick tries to extend the lead to 18-0. The Tigers reduced the arrears when Bev Walker scored an unconverted try.  Swinton increased their lead to 22-4 when Doyle Kenny scored. Castleford scored again through Jenson Westerman. Daniel then scored for the Lions. He converted his own try. Castleford scored the final try of the game when Bev Walker crossed for her second try.

The Lions now faced Widnes Vikings to determine who would finish first and second. Again, the Lions scored first when Isabelle went over to score. Daniel added the extras. Widnes then scored twice before the Lions levelled it up at 12-12 with a Kieron Lacey try and a Daniel conversion. The Vikings then raced away into a 34-12 lead. The Lions scored the last points of the game when Isabelle got her second try and Daniel converted.
