Swinton Lions are delighted to welcome young forward Cameron Bate on loan from Bradford Bulls.
Although based on this side of the Pennines, it’s over at Bradford where they’ve nurtured Cam’s impressive rise through their academy ranks. So much so that the 19 year-old landed a first team squad number for the Bulls’ return to Super League in 2026.
Lions’ Head Coach Paul Wood explained, “Cam comes highly recommended from Bradford. Carl Forster was really keen to get him into the Championship system because he felt he was ready for that step up, and that it would be a better challenge for him playing for the Lions than playing reserve grade week in, week out.
“He was the Elite Academy Player of the Year for Bradford last year, and he’s been in their full-time system this pre-season, so he’s coming to us fit, healthy and strong. He’s a decent-sized lad who gives us energy in the middle and he’s got a good engine, and that’s exactly what we’re looking for at Swinton.
“We want young, hungry players who want to progress their careers and play for the badge. I’ve had a really good conversation with Cam and he’s fully up for coming down to Swinton, giving his all and developing his game, which is a big positive for us. We’re looking forward to having him with us and getting him into the squad once he’s had a couple of training sessions with us.”
