All Eyes on the Lionesses as They Head into the Challenge Shield Final
The countdown is on! This Sunday, the Swinton Lionesses will step onto the field for their biggest test of the season — the Women’s Challenge Shield Final. It promises to be a fantastic day of rugby league, and we couldn’t be prouder of how far this squad has come.
Our opponents have enjoyed an impressive route to the final, putting together a strong campaign that included a 36-0 victory over Wakefield Trinity in the last 16, followed by a dominant quarter-final performance against Bradford Bulls. With Hull FC unable to fulfil their semi-final fixture, the stage was set for a showdown — a local derby, no less.
Now, it’s our Lionesses’ time to rise to the occasion.
The final will take place at the Millennium Stadium in Featherstone (WF7 5EN), with kick-off scheduled for 3pm. Before the main event, supporters can also enjoy the Challenge Plate final between Rochdale Hornets and Halifax Panthers – so there’s plenty of rugby league action on offer for fans of the women’s game.
We encourage as many of our fans, families, and members of the Swinton community to get down and support the Lionesses – they truly deserve it. Tickets are priced at just £5 for adults and £1 for under-18s (cash only), and on-site parking is available. With no other Swinton fixtures this weekend, it’s the perfect chance to get behind our Lionesses.
For those unable to make the trip, you’ll still be able to follow every moment – full match updates will be posted across our social media channels, including instagram, facebook and X and the game will be streamed live via the RFL’s official YouTube channel – here – https://www.youtube.com/@ukrugbyleague
This group has shown heart, unity, and determination all season long — and now they’re 80 minutes away from lifting the Shield.
Let’s get behind them and show what it means to be part of the Swinton Lions family. Let’s roar them over the line!
