The club is delighted that Swinton-born Chris Worrall has re-signed with his hometown club for the 2019 season.
Forward Chris Worrall has penned a new 12-month deal with the Swinton Lions which will see him remain in the squad for the 2019 Championship competition.
The Swinton-born player joined Stuart Littler’s side ahead of the 2018 season, making his debut for the Lions in a pre-season friendly against Wigan reserves, starting in the second-row.
Worrall joined from Gloucestershire All Golds, where he gained first-team experience in 2017, after first emerging at Leigh Miners Rangers and developing through the academy systems at Salford and St Helens.
He made 11 appearances for the Lions in his breakout season in the Championship.
“I’m made up to sign another year with Swinton and hoping to become a consistent Championship player this season,” said the 22-year-old.
“I feel like I have improved as the season went on and I know I will only get better with another pre-season under my belt and have full confidence in the coaching staff to get the best out of me.
“There is no better feeling playing for my hometown team and I’m looking forward to playing in front of them once again next season. Roll on 2019.”
Lions Head Coach Stuart Littler, who signed Worrall last year, is pleased with the development the loose forward is making.
“I’m delighted to confirm the re-signing of local boy Chris Worrall on a contract for the 2019 season. 2018 was a year of transition for Chris as he stepped up to the Championship from League 1.
“I am happy with the progress Chris made and I believe that he will again progress over the course of pre-season and into next year. Chris is again a quality person who strives to get better so fits into the culture I am trying to build at the club.
“He will ask questions and is always keen to learn and develop. As a club we are proud to provide opportunities to young local products and we believe as a team we can move this club forwards together. Chris has a big part to play in this and we are glad that he has decided to continue on the journey.”
