A last minute try prevented the Lionesses from getting a well earned point in an end to end game. Injuries to key players, meant a reshuffle of the team at important stages of the game.

The Lionesses got off to a bright start and pressurised the Dewsbury Moor line. They crossed the line after 6 minutes but, Mia Atherton lost control of the ball in trying to score. Two minutes later the Lionesses were back on the attack. This time Chloe Birkett knocked on short of the line. Dewsbury Moor went back on the attack with a break by Lacie Bruines which ended with a Maddie Higson tackle. The ball was moved out wide but good defence by the Lionesses forced Dewsbury Moor to knock on. The Lionesses opened the scoring after 15 minutes. After more pressure on the Dewsbury Moor line, Georgia Cunliffe crashed over to score. She added to conversion and Swinton led 6-0.

The lead was short lived. The restart was allowed to bounce into touch. Dewsbury Moor moved the ball downfield and Cody-Lou Marsh scored near the posts. Courtney Marsh added the conversion to level the scores. Pressure on the Dewsbury Moor line by the Lionesses ended with a high tackle on Mia Atherton. Georgia Cunliffe kicked the penalty and the Lionesses led 8-6. The Lionesses were penalised for a high tackle in the 39th Minute. Courtney Marsh kicked the penalty to make the half time score 8-8.

A mistake by the Lionesses in the 47th minute, allowed Dewbury Moor to get to the Lionesses 10 metre line.  A penalty for a ball steal allowed Dewsbury Moor to put more pressure on the Lionesses line. Megan Parker forced her way over to score. Courtney Marsh added the conversion for a 14-8 lead.

Dewsbury Moor’s Lily Hammerton was sin binned in the 60th minute for a high tackle. From the resulting penalty, the Lionesses moved the ball across field to Mia Atherton who broke through the defensive line to score. Georgia Cunliffe added the extras and it was all level at 14 all. Dewsbury Moor went back on the attack. They knocked on with the line wide open after 74 minutes. A long range kick downfield by Dewbury Moor was knocked on by Libby Curran in the 79th minute. From the resulting scrum, Nancy Hirst cut through the defence to score the winning try. Courtney Marsh missed the conversion.
