July was a successful period for Stuart Littler’s side, with two wins against Batley Bulldogs and Barrow Raiders, and a 34-34 draw at Odsal Stadium against Bradford Bulls.

Four players are up for nomination this month…

Lewis Hatton

Hatton has had another solid month for the Lions, with strong performances in the middle of the park for Littler’s side.

Playing big minutes and making the tough metres and tackles, Hatton has been impressive in his first season with the club and is up for nomination this month.

He also scored a try in the victory over Batley Bulldogs at Heywood Road.

Samy Kibula

It’s hard to believe that this player only recently turned 20…

Kibula joined the Lions on loan from 2018 Super League champions Wigan Warriors, and has quickly established himself as a fan-favourite whilst with the club.

Like Hatton, Kibula makes the hard metres and adds a creative flare to the attack alongside his teammates. He also crossed for his first try for the club against Bradford Bulls in the 34-34 draw.

Luke Waterworth

The hooker is yet again up for Player of the Month after another inspiring month in the middle of the field for the Lions.

Waterworth is at the heart of the attack, setting up his forwards and controlling the middles and has played good rugby in July.

With injuries to the leaders in Littler’s side earlier in the season, Waterworth has quickly filled these roles and has led from the front.

Frankie Halton

Halton’s work in the middle has yet again been impressive, again with extended minutes in the middle.

Halton crossed for a try in the club’s victory over Barrow Raiders, his second for the side.

The second-rower stepped up the Championship from the amateur game, and has not looked out of place in 2019.
