Lions launch Season Tickets for 2022!

Swinton Lions Season Tickets are now on sale as we look forward to our 2022 promotion bid from Betfred League 1!

Our 2022 Season Tickets are fantastic value at only £125 for all adults, £45 for Student Card Holders, and absolutely FREE for Juniors (aged 16 or under on 1st January). There is also the added advantage that season ticket holders will be entitled to claim a 40% reduction on a Premier Sports subscription, where live and exclusive access to around 40 non-Super League games can be enjoyed in 2022.

At Swinton naturally we were initially desperately disappointed to find ourselves in League 1 for next year, but now that the dust has settled on last season, a tremendous air of optimism has enveloped the club.

We are absolutely delighted with our player retention which speaks volumes for what we are building at Swinton, on top of which we have also added strength in depth. In addition, it’s fantastic to have concluded our squad building in time for the return to training this evening at our top-class facilities at the AJ Bell Stadium. In the meantime, our off-field development work gathers pace and is receiving plaudits from the highest offices in the sport

Head coach Allan Coleman and the players, together with our coaching and backroom staff, and indeed the Board, are totally united and determined to put things right on the field in 2022, and to return this club to the Championship.

We also want to give our supporters something to smile about following a tough couple of years. That said, we are having to plot our future in terms of our on-field and off-field ambitions against a background of savage cuts to our central funding. It has therefore never been more important for our fans get behind the Lions by buying season tickets or helping out with player sponsorship.

At only £125 for an adult season ticket, or just £255 for an Adult Executive Season Ticket, we hope we can tempt large numbers of our fan base to get firmly behind our promotion bid. Please get your season ticket early, bring the family, and help spread the word. Then fingers crossed, Allan and the Lions will bring you some well-deserved enjoyment and success in 2022.

Premier Sports subscription offer for Championship and League 1 season ticket holders

Season tickets for the Betfred Championship and League 1 will be even better value in 2022 with supporters of all 25 clubs to be rewarded for their loyalty with a special discount subscription to Premier Sports – to celebrate the introduction of Monday Night Rugby League.

Anyone who buys a season ticket will be able to add an annual Premier Sports subscription for only £80 – an amazing reduction of almost 40% on the regular annual subscription of £129, and a saving of £100 on a monthly subscription.

With over 40 matches guaranteed live and exclusive on Premier Sports in 2022, from the Betfred Championship, the Challenge Cup and including the Play-Offs and the Summer Bash, that means a cost of less than £2 per game – with so much more live sport from Britain and around the world also thrown in.

This offer is only available on Sky and the Premier Player.

All Betfred Championship and League 1 Clubs will be contacting their Season Ticket Holders for the 2022 Season with this special offer in the coming days and weeks, with full details of how to apply.

Mark Foster, the RFL’s Chief Commercial Officer, said: “We’re delighted to be able to include this fantastic offer to loyal season ticket holders from all clubs in the Betfred Championship and League 1, as part of our new partnership with Premier Sports.

“With the fixtures for the 2022 season to be published later this week, there is so much to look forward to in both leagues – we’ve already seen a raft of big name player signings and the odd high-profile coaching appointment to whet the appetite.

“The regular Monday Night Rugby League package on Premier Sports will feature a 45-minute build-up including weekend highlights, and as well as the best matches from the Betfred Championship including the Summer Bash and the Play-Offs, there will be fixtures from the Betfred Challenge Cup up to and including the Quarter Finals.

“We’ll be announcing the Monday Night selections for the first part of the season when the fixtures are published, and we’re also working on the best ways of supporting clubs with marketing those games to home and away supporters to ensure we showcase the Betfred Championship in the best possible way.”

Richard Webb, COO of Premier Sports commented, “We’re thrilled to be in a position to offer a special discount to loyal season ticket holders where they can subscribe to Premier Sports for just £80 for a 12 month subscription! This works out at just £2 per game from the Championship, Challenge Cup matches, the Summer Bash and the Million Pound Game as well as all the great content we have to offer in 2022.”

Lewis Charnock signing completes Lions’ squad for 2022

At Swinton Lions we are delighted to announce the recruitment of half-back Lewis Charnock from Oldham, whose signing completes our 25 man squad for 2022.

Although primarily a half-back, Lewis is a very versatile player, and can also cover a number of other positions. He should already be well known to Swinton fans, as he has faced the Lions on a number of occasions previously with both Barrow Raiders and Oldham. Lewis also has Super League experience from his time with St Helens up to 2016.

After signing for Swinton Lewis said, “I can’t wait to meet the boys and get started, and to get this club back into the Championship.”

Head Coach Allan Coleman added, “Lewis is the last signing for us for next season. He has lots of experience at all levels and will give us plenty of options, Lewis can play half-back, nine, or thirteen which is very rare. He has a good attitude and fits in with our ethos. I’m sure he will be a valuable player for us.”

Jordan Brown to add further depth to Lions’ forward line

Jordan Brown has become the latest player to renew his commitment to Swinton Lions for season 2022. Jordan, who is now 21, came to the club a year ago from Widnes Vikings, and during the 2021 campaign gained some valuable first team experience with eight appearances in the forwards.

After signing his contract extension Jordan said, “I’m buzzing to sign for another year at Swinton. Last year wasn’t the best year for me personally nor for the club, but I’m looking forward to ripping into pre-season with the lads. We are looking to correct a few wrongs and hopefully have a much better season in 2022.”

Head Coach Allan Coleman added, “It’s great to get Jordan over the line, He’s a big lad with bags of potential and he’s still only 21 years of age, Jordan is very keen on getting in a big pre-season, and he is someone that I know will work very hard.”

Fit again Forsyth to bring class to Lions!

Last night at the Supporters’ Trust’s event at the White Swan in Swinton, we were delighted to bring you exclusive news of the re-signing of Liam Forsyth. The former Wigan Warriors and Leigh Centurions centre was a marquee acquisition for the Lions a year ago, but sadly his campaign was cut short before it had begun by a freak injury in the pre-season friendly match at Bradford Bulls. We are therefore delighted that “Brucey” has committed to Swinton again, with the expectation that a fully fit player will be a powerful part of our armoury in next year’s League 1.

Liam said, I’m made up to have re signed again at Swinton. The club and fans have always been brilliant with me, and I was gutted at not being able to play last year through injury. But this coming season we are hungry to put a lot of things right. Hopefully we can get in a good preseason and then come out firing. I’m looking forward to seeing you all in 2022!

Head Coach Allan Coleman added, We are so pleasedto get Liam signed for next season because he’s a super league player in my eyes, He had an awful time last year with injury and we missed him so much. I’m confident that he will be massive for us next year and will be a player that other teams will be worried about.”

Nick Gregson retention is massive boost for the Lions!

At Swinton Lions we are absolutely thrilled that Nick Gregson, the runner-up for the Player of the Year award at our 2021 Presentation Evening, has decided to stay with the club. The former Wigan Warriors and Leigh Centurions second-rower joined us a year ago having previously played at Heywood Road under dual registration. He then went on to have a terrific personal year for the Lions in 2021, and has recently been a target for a number of rival Championship and League 1 clubs.

After putting pen to contract again with the Lions, Nick said, “I’m buzzing to re-sign for another year with Swinton. It’s a great place to be and it’s somewhere that I’ve always felt at home. With the squad members that have stayed, and the new lads that Allan has brought in, it looks really encouraging. I’m now really excited and looking forward to having a good crack at a tough League 1, and to right a few wrongs from last year.”

Head Coach Allan Coleman was also delighted. He said, “It’s a massive signing for our club to retain Nick. We had lots of competition from all divisions, but he chose us. That says we are in the right place as a club. Nick is a fantastic player and I know he will be a leader for me next year. He has the ability and the potential to play at the top level.”

Everyone has always been so welcoming at the club and that is demonstrated by players, staff and fans. I’m glad to have the opportunity to once again give something back to this club.”

Jordan Case to add experience to Lions’ forward line

We are delighted to announce the signing of Jordan Case from Widnes Vikings. Jordan has also played against the Lions on a number of occasions in a Rochdale Hornets shirt, and now 28 years old he will bring a good deal of experience to the Swinton forward line.

After joining the Lions, Jordan said, “After years of playing against Swinton, I’m more than happy to finally get the opportunity to pull on the Lions’ shirt. I’m looking forward to meeting all the lads and getting stuck into pre season training. Hopefully I can bring some experience to the squad and help push us towards the main goal of promotion back into the Championship.”

Swinton Head Coach Allan Coleman added, “It’s great to get Jordan signed. He is an experienced player who has played with and against a few of our senior players.
