PADDY JONES COMMITS FOR 2019

29 October 2018

The club is delighted to confirm the contract extension of second-rower Paddy Jones for the 2019 season.

Second-rower Paddy Jones has committed his future to the club signing a one-year deal, which will see him in a Lions’ shirt for the 2019 Championship season.

The Wigan Warriors academy product made his debut for Stuart Littler’s side against Dewsbury during the 2018 season, picking up the Man of the Match award in the following game against Rochdale.

Jones signed for the club in June after a successful trial and continued to impress for Swinton, making 12 appearances and scoring his first try in his home debut against the Hornets.

The 21-year-old has previously appeared for both Rochdale and Dewsbury, plus spent a six-month spell with French side Villeneuve, who compete in Elite One Championship.

Jones confirmed his delight at putting pen to paper for another year with the club: “I’m really happy to sign with a great bunch of lads, it was a tough season but I enjoyed it and learned a lot. I’m looking forward to next year.”

“A YOUNG, HUNGRY PLAYER”

Swinton Lions Head Coach Stuart Littler said on the signing:”Great news to be able to announce the re signing of Paddy Jones. Paddy came to us mid way through the 2018 season following a stint in France.

“Paddy maps into our vision of a young, hungry player who is keen to develop and learn. Since joining us Paddy has been a credit to himself and his family with his valuable work ethos.

“I am looking forward to him continuing his development at our club as we piece together our 2019 playing squad.”
