Here’s what’s happening at Heywood Road this weekend…

Past Players Celebration

Past Players Celebration will take place, with members of the winning 1969 team attending the game, including Bob Fleet and Bill Davies!

Hospitality is still available, which includes a two-course lunch and use of the executive lounge. For more details, contact [email protected]!

Swinton Lions Chairman Andy Mazey said: “I am a great believer in the old saying that ‘those who drink from the well must always respect and remember those that dug it’. It is therefore an absolute honour to welcome our magnificent players association once again and to celebrate the 50th anniversary of winning the Lancashire Cup.

“It is also thirty years since we played in the Premiership Final at Old Trafford and we will have in attendance players from both those teams amongst us. The iconic Lancashire Cup will also be with us to make it an extra special occasion. A big thanks must go to Steve Moyes and Colin Robinson who continue to do so much positive work for the players association and our great club.”

Commemorative Shirt

The Lions will wear the commemorative shirt for the first time, which has received praise across fans and the media – and over 30,000 views on social media!

Swinton sponsors Supro Sports designed the Special Edition shirt, which is still on sale on the Swinton Lions store.

Fans can pick up their orders from the ground and wear the shirt with pride at Blackpool’s Summer Bash in May where we face Rochdale Hornets!

Lancashire Cup Appearance

The Lancashire Cup trophy – last won by Wigan Warriors – will also be in attendance at Heywood Road, with fans given the chance to take a picture with the historic trophy in which the Lions won in 1969 against Leigh Centurions at Central Park!
