LIONS’ SKIPPER LLOYD COMMITS AGAIN TO THE LIONS!

08 October 2021

Swinton skipper Rhodri Lloyd has become the latest Lion to commit his immediate future to the club.

Welsh international Rhodri first played for Swinton back in our promotion season of 2015, and has now achieved some 143 appearances for the club. The 28 year old, who normally operates at either centre or second-row, is therefore a well-established favourite with the Lions’ faithful.

The Swinton captain said, “It’s a massive honour to represent this great club, and there’s no doubt that the Lions have become a huge part of my life. I’m looking forward to getting back to winning ways in 2022 after this year’s setback. Swinton as a club belong in the Championship, and anything less than winning League 1 next year will be a failure.”

Swinton Head Coach AlIan Coleman was thrilled with the news of Rhodri’s new contract. He said, “I am absolutely delighted we have got Rhod signed up for next year, because he is our leader in everything we do both on and off the field. Players like Rhod don’t come around very often and we are really lucky that he has chosen to stay with us. When we have spoken about the future he understands everything we want to achieve, and I am so glad he is going to be driving that message home to his fellow players.”
