LIONS OFFER FOLLY’S AARON HALL FIRST PROFESSIONAL CONTRACT

27 December 2017

After greatly impressing in the intensity of the Lions’ tough pre-season training regime, Head Coach Stuart Littler has been so encouraged with the progress of Aaron Hall that the club has decided to offer him his first professional contract.

This is a great boost for the local lad from Folly Lane ARLFC, who spoke at the recent kit launch of his pride at being given the opportunity to train with Swinton Lions, his home town club.

A good deal of the credit for Aaron’s signing must also be extended to our own supporters, as it was Ian Wade and Andy Greenhalgh who first brought news of his potential to the Board.

Following further discussion with Stuart Littler, it was quickly arranged to bring Aaron into the squad for an extended trial period, an opportunity that the big Folly Lane forward has subsequently grasped with both hands. Swinton’s gain is someone else’s loss, as there was significant interest from other professional clubs in Aaron’s potential.

Head Coach Stuart Littler said of the decision to give Aaron a professional contract, “Aaron’s work ethic has impressed me since he came on trial with us. He is keen to learn and to demonstrate that he can cut it at this level. We are happy to provide a local lad with an opportunity to represent his home town team. This is a proud moment for Aaron and we welcome him into our squad with open arms. It’s now up to the coaching staff to work with Aaron to support his development to the next level.”

Aaron was thrilled at being given his chance in a professional environment. He said, “I’m very happy to have been given this opportunity to join the Swinton squad. The last few weeks of pre-season training have been really challenging and I’ve had to get up to the speed of the plays etc, but Stuart and the boys have been really helpful.

“There’s a real buzz about the squad at the minute and I’m really excited for the season to start. I’m now want to carry on improving week by week and then hopefully I’ll get my chance to get stuck in out on the field for the Lions!”

Aaron’s signing is further evidence of the club’s determination to develop a genuine player pathway for local talent, and it’s hoped that others will follow in his footsteps over the coming seasons!
