Swinton Lions is pleased to announce the latest addition to the management team.
Swinton Lions RLFC is delighted to announce the appointment of Lindsey Smethills as Commercial Manager.
Lindsey will already be well known to most Swinton supporters as the landlady of the White Swan Hotel in the town, a business which has experienced a remarkable turnaround in fortunes since she arrived.
What might be less well known about Lindsey is that she has an extensive professional background in finance and business development, skills that have helped oversee the White Swan’s recent dramatic and positive transformation. She is also well connected in the local business community and she intends to use those relationships to the Lions’ advantage. Lindsey is also a popular figure amongst Swinton supporters for whom she already organises home and away travel to Lions’ matches.
Swinton born Lindsey also has a Rugby League background, with her father Colin Smethills having played professionally with Rochdale Hornets, whilst her brothers are heavily involved in the Community game.
Lindsey said upon her appointment, “I am absolutely thrilled to be joining the team at the Lions, and I’m confident that my business background and contacts will be of great benefit to our famous club. As a Swinton fan myself I certainly won’t be lacking in enthusiasm. I see part of my role as to develop a network of commercial operatives to enable us to maximise all of the club’s commercial targets as we approach the critical 2020 season. I can’t wait to get started.”
Operations Director Steve Wild, “I’ve met Lindsey a few times over recent weeks and I’ve been really impressed with her drive and business-like outlook. She is a confident and talented person with some exciting ideas, and I’m sure will be a tremendous asset to our team. Anybody in the Swinton area must be impressed with the way she has developed the White Swan, and those business skills will stand her in good stead in her new role.”
As an added bonus and statement of intent, Lindsey’s White Swan logo will be appearing on the Swinton Lions playing kit in 2020.
