LIONHEART COLIN RECEIVES PRESTIGIOUS NOMINATION!

11 January 2021

Congratulations to our own Colin Robinson who has been nominated for an honour in the prestigious Spirit of Salford Community Awards!

Colin has of course been a key member of the Swinton Lions backroom team for longer than he probably cares to remember, but he has also been combining that role with that as a volunteer with the North West Ambulance Service.

He went on the frontline with the ambulance service last spring during the first national lockdown, at a time when he was also performing socially-distanced and fun “Lion Walks” to draw publicity for both the NHS and his beloved rugby club!

After being nominated in the “Public Servant of the Year Award” category, Colin said, “My first reaction was surprise as to why I’d been nominated, but now that it’s sunk in I feel immensely proud.

“I love my work with the North West Ambulance Service and I love my involvement the Lions, so anything which draws attention to both organisations is fantastic.

“We have a great community spirit at Swinton Lions and our physio Lyndsey Watkins and player Lewis Hatton are also involved on the frontline against Covid.”

Colin will have to wait until March before learning whether or not he’s carried off the top award, but regardless as whether he wins or not we are sure everyone involved with the club will want to acknowledge Colin’s outstanding contribution to both the North West Ambulance Service and to Swinton Lions!
