LEWIS HATTON NEW CONTRACT A MAJOR BOOST FOR THE LIONS!

06 October 2021

We are thrilled to announce that our outstanding prop-forward, Lewis Hatton, has signed a contract renewal that will keep him at Swinton Lions in 2022.

Lewis joined us in 2019 from Rochdale Hornets and was an instant hit, and to date has scored eight tries in 42 appearances for the Lions. His tireless energy and strong running attributes have made him a firm favourite amongst Swinton fans, and earned him massive respect from opposition players and coaches.

Unfortunately Lewis missed much of the 2021 season due to injury, but his presence in the last ten games reminded us of how much he’d been missed in the first two-thirds of the season.

Swinton Head Coach Allan Coleman was delighted that Lewis has put pen to paper. He said, “This is a massive signing for us as a club. Having known Lewis for three years he is an absolute pleasure to coach and work with. He’s always first in the gym and the last to leave the field, and you can tell that with his performances.

“In my opinion he is the best prop outside Super League and we are very happy that he has chosen to stay with us. It’s a great vote of confidence in the club by Lewis and demonstrates that we are doing the right things at the Lions.”

Lews responded, “I have loved my last three years with Swinton. The club has really looked after me throughout my time here, particularly this season when I spent the majority of the time out injured.

“It has been a tough year for myself and the club, but I’m looking forward to rebuilding and pushing for promotion in 2022.

“I would like to thank Allan Coleman, the rest of the coaching staff, chairman and Board members, for wanting me to stay and being a part of the club moving forward.”
