The club is delighted to confirm that Richard Lepori has signed a new contract with the club.
Swinton Lions RLFC is delighted to announce the re-signing of Italy international Richard Lepori for the 2020 season.
Lepori crossed for three tries in nine appearances for the Lions in 2019, after making his debut at Heywood Road against Toronto Wolfpack and joins Jose Kenga in committing to the Lions this week.
He has also made nine appearances for Italy on the international scene, and has been included in the Italy train-on squad for the 2021 World Cup Qualifiers.
“I really enjoyed my first year,” Lepori said.
“The club and Stuart gave me an opportunity to enjoy my rugby again and I feel like I was starting to get back to the way I can perform towards the end of the season.
“I’m looking forward to getting back in with the lads in a few weeks and getting ready for a big season ahead for the club.
“It’s a big positive for the club that the staff and the majority of the lads have re-signed. It’s important to keep that continuity, especially as the group is so young, and I think it speaks volumes of the environment the staff have created where everyone wants to stay with the club and improve on last year’s performances.
“I think fans can expect to see another young side with enthusiasm, which will be aiming to build on last year’s experience and keep the club moving up the Championship.”
Head Coach Stuart Littler added: “I’m absolutely made up to announce the re-signing of Richard Lepori.
“Lippy came to us mid-year last season and really added to our group both on and off the field. Richard certainly has a high work rate and the way we start sets on the back of his carries is appreciated by the full group.
“Away from the field, he is also a good person. We have built our club on recruiting the right people who are with us for the right reasons.
“Richard ticks all boxes on that and I am excited with what the future has in store for us. Pre season comes around quick and we intend to hit the ground running.
Littler added: “Can I also wish Richard a happy birthday from all of us and all the best for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers…maybe not so much in the Italy v Ireland game though!”
