KENGA SIGNS TO LIONS FOR 2021

25 August 2020

Swinton Lions are delighted to announce that prop Jose Kenga has agreed a new one-year deal with the club for the 2021 season.

Popular front-rower Jose Kenga has become the latest Lion to commit himself to the club ahead of season 2021.

Jose came to Swinton in 2019 from Keighley Cougars and made 19 appearances in his debut campaign.

He was looking fitter than ever at the start of the current year and was outstanding in the friendly against Salford, but sadly of course the season soon came to grinding halt. Jose, however, will no doubt be looking to kick on again when play finally resumes.

Jose Kenga said, “I’m really happy to be signing again for this great club. I’m loving my time here – we have a real family culture and it’s one that I’m really proud of and enjoy being part of. I was really gutted about how the season ended this year, especially because when the weather starts to improve that’s when we really start creating problems for our opponents.

“But that’s life, and we’ve been continuing to work hard on our personal fitness throughout these troubled times. In fact I can’t wait to be back training with the lads and be out on that field again in front of our great fans.

“As regards 2021, I am personally hoping for a great year. I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to develop further as a player under Stuart, as I’m continuously improving towards being the best version of myself.

“I believe there are some exciting times ahead at this club! Finally I’d like to thank the directors for their ongoing support during the last few months.”

“JOSE REALLY BUYS INTO OUR CLUB’S STANDARDS AND BELIEFS”

Lions’ Head Coach Stuart Littler added. “It’s another great bit of recruitment news with the re-signing of Jose Kenga.

“Jose has been with us for two years now and has consistently asked for feedback regards areas of development.

Jose’s knowledge base and understanding of the game has really developed throughout his time with us and he is becoming a bit of a student of the game. Jose is at a relatively young age with regards to his position.

“We are expecting further continued development over the course of his new contract and we know that Jose will be doing everything in his power in order to impress. Jose really buys into our club’s standards and beliefs and again is another popular member within our dressing room.

“In general we are really happy with our 2021 recruitment so far and we feel there are exciting times ahead.”
