KENGA SIGNS ON FOR 2020

20 October 2019

Jose Kenga has signed a new deal with the club.

Swinton Lions RLFC is delighted to announce that Jose Kenga has signed a new one-year deal with the club.

Kenga’s break into first grade rugby league came with Hunslet in 2016, with whom he spent two seasons before transferring to Keighley Cougars for the 2018 season. The Congo-born forward then joined the Lions in 2019.

He made 16 appearances last season under Stuart Littler, and is a strong re-signing for the club following the announcement that key members of the club’s backroom staff have also agreed new deals.

“I am extremely happy to have extended my stay at this great club,” said Kenga.

“The job continues. We set a great standard last season that we need to now work hard to exceed. I am happy with my first season.

“I enjoyed my first year at this level and I’ve learned a lot under Stuart and I’m excited for 2020 to further progress.”

On the player extension, Lions Head Coach Littler added: “It is another bit of great news with the re-signing of Jose Kenga.

“Jose maps into our strategy re recruiting young players who are keen to develop and progress with us.

“Jose’s attitude is first class and he has high personal standards as well as a will to be successful. Jose developed well last season after stepping up from League one..

“I truly believe Jose will get better with experience and game time.”

Season Tickets will be announced in due course to join Kenga and the rest of the squad in 2020.
