Welsh international signs two and a half year deal with Swinton

At Swinton Lions we are delighted announce the immediate signing of the Welsh international and former Super League prop-forward Anthony Walker, who joins us on a two and a half year deal.

Six-feet tall Anthony began his career with St Helens, and has subsequently played at Wakefield Trinity, Bradford Bulls and Widnes, as well as achieving a good number of caps for Wales.

Upon signing for the Lions, Anthony said, “I’m buzzing to be joining Swinton. I’m looking forward to getting stuck into the second half of the season and a further 2 years after that.

“I’ve played with a number of the lads before both at Wales and other clubs and they are a great group of lads who all want the same thing. After speaking to Killer and having worked with him before, he has a vision for the club that I want to be part of.”

Lions’ Head Coach Alan Kilshaw added, “I’ve worked with Ant before, an international who played in the last World Cup. He is a really good player at this level with a history of playing in good teams. He is definitely a coup for us, he was keen to come and join the Lions, and we’re delighted to have secured his services. He brings plenty of size as a prop-forward and will go well.”

The club would also like to thank PrideBuilder members who have made a significant contribution towards the costs of bringing Anthony to Swinton.
