Harry Aaronson re-joins the Lions for the 2019 campaign following a two-year stint at League One side Keighley Cougars.
Swinton Lions are delighted to announce the return of gifted utility-back Harry Aaronson for the 2019 Championship season.
Aaronson played two-seasons under former Swinton Lions Coach John Duffy, scoring on his debut in 2015 against South Wales Scorpions aged just 16.
He continued to grow, and joined Keighley Cougars in December of 2015, soon being promoted to their first-team after impressing for the reserves.
“I am very excited to re-join the Club that ignited my rugby league career,” Aaronson told swintonlionsrlfc.co.uk.
“Three years ago, I made my debut for the Club and everyone involved with the Club made sure that I thoroughly enjoyed my time there.
“I feel like re-joining is a massive step up for me and I believe that the team that Stuart and Andy are putting together is promising.
“The Championship next season has some quality teams there and I am looking forward to testing myself against those teams. I had an amazing two years at Keighley and made some amazing memories but I am looking forward to getting stuck in with my fellow lions!”
The Huddersfield Academy product made 19 appearances in the 2018 season, scoring five tries for the Cougars.
On the newest addition to the squad, Swinton and Ireland Head Coach Stuart Littler said: “It is great news to be able to announce that we have brought Harry Aaronson back to the Club.
“Harry was at the Club as a youngster and left to get game time and concentrate on his studies.
“Harry has been steadily progressing and is a player who we have kept our eyes on. Harry’s highlight reel from the past few seasons shows the electric pace he can add to our squad. Our squad is building nicely and again Harry comes from a great family and is young, hungry and keen to develop.
“Harry being well educated means he is very coachable and is someone I am excited to bring into our ever developing squad.”
The youngster has also represented England University, studying at Leeds University.
“Harry is a player that will need no introduction to our supporters and I know that he will be a popular acquisition,” added Swinton Lions Chairman Andy Mazey.
“As Steve Wild pointed out to me when I informed the board we had re-signed him, Harry has a 200% scoring record at our Club with six tries in three appearances in his last spell.
“Whilst Harry has been away, he has developed his game and developed physically and gained valuable experience in League One while losing none of that explosive trademark pace that will be a huge asset to us in 2019.
“We have tracked Harry for a while now and expressed an interest mid-season this year, so it is with great delight we can announce Harry is coming home to the Lions.”
