The Board of Directors of Swinton Lions RLFC make a statement following instances of verbal abuse during and after the game against Rochdale Hornets on Sunday 3rd June 2018.

CLUB STATEMENT

The Board of Directors of Swinton Lions RLFC is aware of instances of unacceptable verbal abuse which was mainly directed at the match officials during and after the game against Rochdale Hornets on Sunday 3rd June 2018.

Whilst the Board appreciates that Rugby League is a highly competitive sport which can raise passions, the use of grossly insulting or offensive language, in whatever form, cannot be condoned or tolerated.

Swinton Lions RLFC prides itself on providing a safe and friendly environment which encourages families to attend games. However, offensive language does nothing to encourage new supporters, it offends existing supporters and officials, and has the potential to bring the club into disrepute.

We greatly value your passionate support for the team, but please keep the language in check, and report any instances of offensive language or behaviour to the nearest steward. Please note that offenders risk the possibility of being permanently banned from Heywood Road.

Please help uphold the good name of our proud and historic club.

Thank you for your support.
