BENNION AWARDED PLAYER OF THE MONTH

Prop forward Gavin Bennion has won May’s Player of the Month award.

Gavin Bennion has won the Player of the Month award for the second consecutive month, with 35% of the votes. 

Bennion has won the award for the second consecutive month, having also been voted April’s Player of the Month.

Luke Waterworth, Paddy Jones, Frankie Halton and Bennion were all nominated for the award in May.

P.Jones came close at second, with 30% of the votes.

Making his 100th career appearance at Heywood Road against Dewsbury during May and scoring the match-winning try, Bennion has picked up the Player of the Month award voted by the fans.

Bennion has had yet another impressive month for the Lions, which saw the side claim back-to-back wins for the first time in three years.

The Welsh international was also included in Rugby League World’s Championship Team of the Month, alongside teammate Matty Ashton.

Bennion will receive his award this Sunday as we host Toronto Wolfpack in the Betfred Championship, with a 6:00pm kick off.
